ABOUT THE 11+

Students who want to study at a grammar school must pass the 11+ exam, consisting of English, Maths and Reasoning sections.
The Kent Test is the Kent version of the 11+ exam.

What's in the Kent Test?

All of the following is taught to our 11+ students throughout the year, using authentic exam-style materials.

Maths
Paper length: 25 minutes
​The maths syllabus includes topics such as percentages, decimals, fractions, graphs, averages, shapes and even algebra in small amounts!
Verbal
Paper length: 20 minutes
​There are more than 20 verbal reasoning question types which students should learn. These relate to letters, words and even numbers in a variety of ways!
English
Paper length: 25 minutes
​A comprehension exercise covers roughly 50% of the English paper, with the rest made up of spelling, punctuation or grammar exercises. 
Non-Verbal & Spatial
​
Paper length: 4-6 minutes per section
Non-verbal involves identifying patterns in 2D shapes, while spatial involves visualising shapes moving in 2D and 3D space. There are usually 2-3 different sections in each paper.
